Do you ever wonder what were parents are thinking when naming their kids?

Before I had my kids I would always wondered what I would name them. I was always told that in choosing
a name is planning part of your child's future. So today when I look around and hear most of the names that kids are given I can not help but wonder " What were those parent's thinking?"..........

  1. I think for the most part it is the environment one is in. I also think the age of the parent plays a huge role. At my age I couldn't even imagine naming a kid some of the names these kids have nowadays. As you say it is absolutely planning our children's future when we name them. We have to see our children as the future doctors, lawyers, judges, mayors, etc when giving them a name.

  2. Teaching kids to have the right attitude in life and why, is way more important than the name you give them. You teach them right, you can name a boy sue and it'll develop character

  3. Nameing your kids in my view is important , I understand its all in how you raise your kids since one can name their children Amber and they become someone who takes meth, and latisha become a honor roll student. I do get the question what are people thinkin in calling their kids alize or Hennessy .... Yeah umm don't see that its usually those who lack education and proper manners which usually tend to name their children these names

  4. Agree with u all. ;)

    Lemme see...... I'm 29 with 2 sons:

I had Logan Antonio, when I was 20 yrs old.
Became a single mom a month before giving birth to him.
Logan= means twisted- different from the average men.
Antonio= after San Antonio- saint of miracles.
.......he is different from the bad asses & my miracle.

Bronx Maximus-- I had him @ 26, NYU graduate.

Bronx= his dad & I love the Bronx county more than any other city we lived in, its our heart, as he is. Strong name that makes people remember him. Tough.

Maximus= decided last min, during c-section, if he had light hair it would've been Joseph. Born jet black Sooo...maximus! Plus i figured in case he is my last boy, I wanted my name Maxine 2 b a part of him.
.....to this day he is a little old man, husky & strong stuck in a 2 yr old body. Lol

-----I hated my name til I was 24. Now @ 29 I embrace it. My sons love their names and every1 that meets them! It is who they are.

    No regret :)

  5. Out of some parents not thinking, sometimes we get a good laugh. I feel they want to be so creative or different at times, that they don't take into account how the child might feel.

  6. Naming the kid is not important so long as you raise them the right way.

  7. I named my daughter Nevaeh it's Heaven backwards. I wanted something that was as unique as she is and just as special. I really never thought the name was that important however Emily is right some people don't think and give some outragous names. I was raised its more important how you raise your child and that you were there for them in every way a parent should be.
